Volunteering at HALC

All volunteers are trained to provide confidential and sensitive service to all our clients. There are two ways to volunteer at HALC –

Volunteer solicitors
Solicitors and interested members of the community come together quaterly in the form of the HALC Legal Policy Working Group to devise and draft policy.

Daytime volunteers
During the day HALC is partly staffed by volunteers. Most of HALC’s daytime volunteers are law students. HALC prefers to take on law students who are close to completing their degrees. This can include students who are doing an external placement with the centre or are undertaking their practical legal training placement for admission requirements. The role of a daytime volunteer includes exposure to all the different aspects of running the centre including general case management, legal research, community education and general administration.

If you would like to volunteer at HALC,
please contact the Coordinator on 9206 2060.
